Santiaguito formed in the crater left from the 1902 eruption of Santa Maria, which was one of the the five biggest volcanic eruptions of the past 300 years. Since then it has been one of Guatemala's most active volcanoes.  I took these photographs from El Brujo, Santiaguito's nearest dormant volcanic dome.
